Megaspores from the Late Triassic‒Early Jurassic of southern Scandinavia: taxonomic and biostratigraphic implications

چکیده
Here we investigate megaspores from 10 Triassic‒Jurassic localities of southern Sweden and Bornholm, Denmark, based on collections housed in the Swedish Museum Natural History. We identify describe 19 megaspore taxa belonging to three stratigraphically constrained assemblages, representing Rhaetian, Hettangian Pliensbachian, respectively. Megaspores are abundant diverse (12 taxa) Rhaetian assemblage. Diversity markedly decreases across Triassic–Jurassic boundary (TJB), with species richness reducing 12 two taxa. The assemblage is well-preserved but depauperate, overwhelmingly dominated by Nathorstisporites hopliticus. A subsequent recovery lycopsid diversity followed, recorded an increase six Pliensbachian disappearance hygrophilous heterosporous lycophyte communities TJB, suggests a shift drier conditions earliest Jurassic. This supported lithological changes coal-forming environments sandstone-dominated fluvial-estuarine facies Hettangian. Throughout this study, analysed using fluorescence microscopy, which revealed detailed morphological features specimens that were otherwise opaque under visible light. non-destructive technique particularly useful for examining embedded permanent mounting media, such as epoxy resin, may provide new insights into historical elsewhere.

(Eucynodontia, Tritheledontidae) from the Late Triassic of southern Brazil: anatomical and biostratigraphic implications
The tritheledontid Riograndia guaibensis was the first cynodont described for the “Caturrita Formation” fauna from the Late Triassic of southern Brazil (Santa Maria 2 Sequence). The type materials did not preserve anatomical information regarding braincase, occiput, basicranium, zygomatic arch, postdentary bones and craniomandibular joint. Here new materials are described and supply the missing...
متن کاملA taxonomic review of the Late Jurassic eucryptodiran turtles from the Jura Mountains (Switzerland and France)
Background. Eucryptodiran turtles from the Late Jurassic (mainly Kimmeridgian) deposits of the Jura Mountains (Switzerland and France) are among the earliest named species traditionally referred to the Plesiochelyidae, Thalassemydidae, and Eurysternidae. As such, they are a reference for the study of Late Jurassic eucryptodires at the European scale. Fifteen species and four genera have been ty...
متن کاملMiddle-Late Cambrian acritarchs from the Zardkuh area in the High Zagros Mountains, southern Iran: Stratigraphic and paleogeographic implications
The excellent preservation of the acritarchs, their great abundance, diversity and good stratigraphic control permit establishment of a detailed Middle and Late Cambrian acritarch biozonation. A total of 56 palynomorph species form the basis of 10 local acritarch assemblage zones. Assemblage zones I-II occur in the lower and middle parts of the Member C of the Mila Formation and suggest Early-m...

15 صفحه اولA New Non-Pterodactyloid Pterosaur from the Late Jurassic of Southern Germany
BACKGROUND The 'Solnhofen Limestone' beds of the Southern Franconian Alb, Bavaria, southern Germany, have for centuries yielded important pterosaur specimens, most notably of the genera Pterodactylus and Rhamphorhynchus. Here we describe a new genus of non-pterodactyloid pterosaur based on an extremely well preserved fossil of a young juvenile: Bellubrunnus rothgaengeri (gen. et sp. nov.). ME...
